The Game is Online

I decided to start this blog as a commitment to myself to continue the play of the Sales Game. I started my version of the game in 2005 after working with Jerry Stocking who is the creator of the game and my teacher/mentor.

You can check out Jerry's work, courses and e-newsletters at...

To give you some background, Jerry has been studying human consciousness for a few decades now and has combined approaches from a number of traditions. He takes Ken Wilber's approach that no one is all right nor all wrong. So he adapts approaches that he finds useful to discover The Self, as the Zennies are wont to say.

I have been studying the Zen traditions since 2000 and find the practice passive (just sit) and intellectual (just read). Being an Enneagram 8, my body needs to be more active and Jerry's approach (and the Sales Game) seems more appropriate for my SELF. Additionally, I do not find the Zen approach practical for folks who live in the world.

The Sales Game is based on the premise that we can discover more about who we are by interacting with other humans. We are in Sales all the time, that is in relationship with other humans. If you are married, you "sold" your spouse. If you are dating, your next date is a "sale." If you have kids, well everyday seems like a new "sale."

Most people view sales in a negative light right below lawyers (which I am by the way). This is an old model of sales where the salesperson's only interest in the buyer is to get the sale. It's a war of words where the buyer's objections have to be overcome and you need to get through 7(00) NOs before you get to YES.

The idea of the Sales Game is a new model of sales, where the sale happens if the buyer is ready. If the buyer is not ready, or not now ready, then be open to that possibility.

Enough of a preamble. I will add my sales stats on a weekly or whenever basis and expound more on the Sales Game.

Come out and play.
